Thelambu pods are the dried seed pods of the finger-leaved stink tree, also called stink mallow or Java olive (Sterculia foetida). The stinkweed belongs to the mallow family and occurs naturally in India, Sri Lanka and as far north as Southeast Asia.
Seeds, leaves, fruits and bark as well as the oil are used medicinally. Thelambu pods can be used well in aquaristics because of their mild medicinal effect. In any case, they are natural decorative hiding places for shrimps, small fish, snails and other invertebrates and fit into any aquarium set up close to nature.
