Nannoptopoma sp Peru

I was able to acquire this beautiful little catfish from the Hypoptopomatinae group from Aquahaus Dülmen in early 2024, thanks to Mike Schneider. The species occurs, for example, in the Rio Nannay in the catchment area of the Rio Maranon in Peru, which drains into the upper Amazon. Norbert Knaak (thanks, Nobby, for the great pictures) shows the species mainly on plant leaves. As I don’t have any plants in my breeding room, they have to make do with wood and walnut leaves, but they also seem to like them. According to my observations here, the slightly smaller animals have a rather light grey head, while the slightly larger ones have a slightly orange head. Let’s see if this remains the case and how a potential sexual dimorphism shows up later.
