Description
Alder suppositories for aquarium
Our domestic Black alder (Alnus glutinosa) delivers parts of plants, which in part have a slightly antiseptic and fungicidal effect, similar to the be reputed of almond leaves, namely the seed heads or alder cones. These also have a slight pH-reducing effect. Therefor the carbonate hardness of the raw water must not be too high.
For shrimp the alder cones are a great ‘playground’ which offers numerous hiding places and also biogenic nursery as a food source with the growing biofilm.
Dosage for pH influence:
About 1 alder cone per 10 liters of aquarium water. If you don’t want to have the cones itself in the tank, just take a 10-liter bucket of warm osmosis water, put in the alder cones and infuse them for a few days. This ‘very dark tea’ is to be added in portions to the aquarium to acidify it, according to the motto, as much as necessary, as little as possible.
