Ideal hiding place for axolotls with a natural look
This hemispherical cave is ideal as a hiding place for axolotls, crayfish, catfish and other ornamental fish.
When used as an axolotl cave, there is room for around 2 average-sized animals.
The diameter of the hiding place is approx. 18 cm. The igloo is about 8 cm high and has a wide entrance designed like an archway. This low ceiling height meets the animals’ need for security. The shape of the hiding place was adapted to the special needs of the tailed amphibians in cooperation with breeders and keepers.
Our shelter for axolotls is both practical and decorative. Combined with our tunnels or igloos in other sizes, you can create a varied cave landscape in your axolotl aquarium.
This igloo cave has a near-natural surface structure and therefore blends in even better with a naturally designed tank.
All igloos are made individually by hand. After a few days of drying in the air, they are finished by hand to remove any corners or edges.
We attach great importance to injury-free surfaces and entrances for all the hiding places we offer for axolotls. As a rule, no post-processing by you is necessary.
At 1090 °C, the axolotl burrows become very hard and durable hiding places. They can easily be boiled for disinfection purposes or placed in the oven at high heat.
As all igloos are made by hand, there may be variations in color and dimensions.
